ITINERARY
Day 1: Nairobi
Meet our team outside the customs and immigration halls. Be briefed on your safari and introduced to your driver-guide. Arrival & check-in. Overnight at Kahama Hotel
Day 2: Nairobi – Lake Bogoria
Breakfast at the lodge, check out and drive to Lake Bogoria Game Reserve in the rift valley to take photos of the beautiful scenery on your way to Bogoria. Arrive at the park take photos by the lakeside until afternoon. You will then be transferred to LAKE BOGORIA SPA AND RESORT for check-in and lunch. Afternoon return to reserve for more photos. Dinner and overnight stay at the resort. Famous for its geysers and hot springs, the lake is home to one of the world’s largest populations of lesser flamingos. Lake Bogoria has been a National Reserve since 1973 and was designated a Ramsar site in 2001. This means it’s an internationally important wetland area, supporting many regionally and nationally endangered species. These include the migratory lesser flamingo, the greater flamingo and the black-necked grebe. Up to two million birds can be found there at any one time, many living in the reserve for months at a time. The rare greater kudu antelope also live in the reserve. The lake is recharged by spring-fed and seasonal rivers. These are critical water sources for people and animals. The major source of fresh water is the Waseges River.
Day 3: Lake Bogoria – Kakamega Forest/Rondo Retreat Centre
Breakfast & drive to Kakamega forest. Arrival & check-in at RONDO RETREAT LODGE located in the heart of Kakamega forest. In the afternoon, you will have a guided walk into the Kakamega forest.Dinner & overnight stay at RONDO RETREAT LODGE. Kakamega is an authentic rainforest wilderness that presents you with the opportunity to view innumerable birds, butterflies, flowers, reptiles and small mammals including primates in a habitat that towers 700-year old trees, rare plants and herbs You will go on walks along the distinct trails that will lead through diverse kinds of terrain. Kakamega merits the hosting of flora that is native to the highlands and lower altitudes of Kenya. You will explore grasslands, climb hills, skirt the Yala River and view the gorgeous Isiukhu Falls. Kakamega Forest National Reserve has been designated an Important Bird Area and supports more than 360 species of birds. They are most active during the mornings or early evenings calling from their roosts on the treetops. You can choose walks that take you the top of the Lirhanda Hill. From here, you can watch the sunsets or the sunrises, both equally spectacular, from high above the umbrella of the trees.
Day 4: Kakamega Forest – Kisumu/Victoria Suites
Breakfast & depart to Kisumu.Stop over at Kit Mikayi en route Kit Mikayi is a large rock with three rocks on top, is located off Kisumu-Bondo Road towards Bondo, It stands tall above many surrounding rocks in Kangeso village. The 70 ft to 80 ft stone is also a weeping rock. Later proceed to Kisumu for lunch at VITTORIA SUITES. After lunch, you will visit Impala Park, a game sanctuary and animal orphanage and home to the rare Sitatunga antelope. The Kisumu Impala Wildlife Sanctuary was opened in 1992 with the intention of protecting a herd of impala and serve as a safe grazing ground for hippopotamus from the lakes. Spread over an area of less than 1sq km, this wildlife sanctuary acts a holding point for problem animals like baboons, hyenas and leopards. You will be able to see these animals within a close range. Dinner & overnight at VITTORIA SUITES.
Day 5: Lake Victoria/KISUMU – Lake Naivasha
Breakfast at the hotel, check out and depart to Lake Naivasha. Arrive at your lodge. Check in followed by lunch. In the afternoon relax at the hotel. Option to go for a boat ride at Lake Naivasha (paid on the ground). Dinner and overnight stay NAIVASHA SOPA LODGE. (Optional Activities) visit the crescent island sanctuary for a 2- hour walking safari (no predators here), 1- hour boat ride on the lake or visit the Crater Lake (Boat ride Payment direct).
Day 6: Lake Naivasha – Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, drive to the wild famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Arrive at your lodge on time for lunch. After lunch, enjoy a PM game drive within the park. The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe; over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You might see Lions, Rhinos, Hippos, Crocodiles, Giraffe, Wildebeests, Zebras, Buffalo, Warthogs, Hyenas, and Jackals, Wild dogs, Buffalo, Leopard and a variety of antelopes. It is in the Mara that the most spectacular event of the natural wonders of the world takes place. Behind their heels are predators of the savannah. This evening, enjoy a sumptuous dinner at your camp
Day 7: Masai Mara – Full day of game-viewing!
You spend a full day in the Masai Mara on morning and afternoon game drives. Between the game drive OPTIONAL VISIT (payments direct) to local Masai Village is conducted. The trees in the distance might turn out to be a family of Giraffes. Those clumps of bushes a pride of Lions, and the rock that moves a Rhino lumbering out of your way. With diligence and some luck, you may encounter a family of Cheetahs, or a herd of Elephants crossing the path in front of you. Large animals are not the only entertainment – a family of warthogs may amuse you, running as fast as their little legs will carry them until they forget why they are rushing and stop to regroup.
Day 8: Nairobi – Depart
Breakfast will be served at the lodge. Drive to Nairobi where you will be transferred to JKIA for your departure flight back home.
Cancellation Policy: Booking cancelled or reduced in numbers between the following days from the noon of accommodation/flight will attract cancellation charges as follows:
60-36 days – 20%
35-20 days – 50%
19- Arrival – 100%
