9 Days 8 Nights Arusha – Tarangire – Arusha

This tour starts and ends in Arusha, Tanzania. Arusha Region is a global tourist destination and is the center of the northern Tanzania safari circuit. The national parks and reserves in this region include Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Arusha National Park, the Loliondo Game Controlled Area, and part of Lake Manyara National Park. Remains of 600-year-old stone structures are found at Engaruka, just off the dirt road between Mto wa Mbu and Lake Natron.

Arrival

  • You’ll be picked up from the Arusha International Airport upon arrival and transferred to Arusha Coffee Lodge for refreshments , dinner and overnight.



Day 1: Overnight at Arusha

You will arrive at the airport where you will be picked up by the company’s representative. You will be given a brief safari orientation (pre-departure meeting) of the safari, thereafter you will be driven to the Arusha Coffee Lodge for refreshments, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After an early breakfast set out for an early morning road safari to Tarangire National Park in a 4X4 safari van. Tarangire is 147 Kms from Arusha and this will be a 2 hours drive on tarmac.

Tarangire National Park
is one of largest national parks in Tanzania, it is located in Manyara Region. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park. The Tarangire River is the primary source of fresh water for wild animals in the Tarangire Ecosystem during the annual dry season. The Tarangire Ecosystem is defined by the long-distance migration of wildebeest and zebras. During the dry season thousands of animals concentrate in Tarangire National Park from the surrounding wet-season dispersal and calving areas.

The park is famous for its high density of elephants and baobab trees. Visitors to the park in the June to November dry season can expect to see large herds of thousands of zebra, wildebeest and cape buffalo. Other common resident animals include waterbuck, giraffe, dik dik, impala, eland, Grant’s gazelle, vervet monkey, banded mongoose, and olive baboon. Predators in Tarangire include African lion, leopard, cheetah, caracal, honey badger, and African wild dog.

Home to more than 550 bird species, the park is a haven for bird enthusiasts.

The park is also famous for the termite mounds that dot the landscape. Those that have been abandoned are often home to dwarf mongoose.

You will arrive Tarangire Treetops Lodge at around 10.00am and join a mid morning game drive after check in. This amazing property will be your home for the next 4 Nights.

As you arrive at the Lodge, you are immediately greeted by a blaze of colour and a host of smiles all of which belong to the local Maasai tribesmen who have become part of the enchanting story that is Tarangire Treetops.

Centered about a Main Lodge – which itself encases a thousand year-old baobab tree – Tarangire Treetops comprises of 20 rooms all of which are elevated above the ground affording views over the tops of surrounding marula and baobab trees.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park

After early breakfast depart for a morning shared game drive in the conservancy, the game drive lasts about one hour, This is usually the most popular game viewing time. During the early hours temperatures are low, thus providing a favorable atmosphere both for the game and the viewer. Lion, Cheetah and Leopard roam the vast grasslands in search for their next meal…whatever the players, and the spectacle of nature unfolding is always awe inspiring!

At 12:30pm drive back to the Lodge and reach in time for Lunch. There will be time to relax before your afternoon game drive.

Enjoy an Afternoon game drive in the conservancy and return to the lodge before dark.

Day 4 & 5: Tarangire National Park

Day 6: Tarangire – Arusha

After breakfast you will go for your morning game drive and return to the camp for lunch and checking out.

You will depart the Lodge after in the late afternoon game drive for your road trip back to Arusha for your next adventure at Arusha Park the following day. You will have dinner and spend your overnight at Arusha Coffee Lodge.

Day 7 : Arusha National Park

After Breakfast you will be picked up by our driver guide for an exciting Road Safari to Arusha National Park, the journey is 55 Kms and takes about 45 minutes. This will be a day excursion.

Arusha National Park has a rich variety of wildlife, but visitors shouldn’t expect the same game-viewing experience they find in other national parks of Tanzania northern circuit. Despite the small size of the park, common animals include giraffe, Cape buffalo, zebra, warthog, the black-and-white colobus monkey, the blue monkey, flamingo, elephant, lion and many other African animals. Leopard populations are present, but rarely seen. Birdlife in the forest is prolific, with many forest species more easily seen here than elsewhere on the tourist route – Narina trogon and bar-tailed trogon are both possible highlights for visiting birders, whilst the range of starling species provide somewhat less gaudy interest.

Day 8 : Arusha City Tour

After breakfast, you will be picked up by our driver for an exciting tour of Arusha City – The Tour takes about 4 hours and gives you the opportunity to interact with Africa.

The Tour:

On board your air-conditioned coach, pass the historical buildings of downtown Arusha that dominate this bustling city. Your guide will point out the must-see Ngorongoro Crater that juts out over the city skyline, as well as the iconic Arusha Museums.

Stop outside Africa’s tallest mountain, the Ngorongoro Crater, and walk up to the coffee plantation area with your guide to admire sweeping views over Arusha. After walking around the viewing coffee plantation areas at leisure, hop back onboard your coach to continue seeing the sights.

Head to see the Blue Tanzanite, passing by the German settlement on the Boma road, built by Maasai labor – said to symbolize Maasai’s role in fighting against colonialism. As you drive around Ngorongoro Crater, your guide will explain some of the fascinating history that this National Heritage site has witnessed throughout the years. Learn about Arusha’s turbulent past and its fastest yet steady transition to growing economy.

Pass the Arusha souvenir shopping , and Tanzania cookery courses where local Swahili can teach you the traditional way of cooking the authentic Swahili foods. Your tour winds back through the affluent neighborhood of Maasai Communities, with their red shukas, beaded jewelry, spears and nomadic warrior traditions. The Maasai have become one of Africa’s most iconic tribal groups with an aura of mystery about them.

Time permitting; there will be a final stop at Arusha Botanical Gardens in the evenings. With a good choice of restaurants offering Swahili, Indian and International Cuisine. You’ll enjoy some time at leisure here to explore this beautiful city park with its African herb garden and tranquil lawns.

After the tour you will be dropped off at the hotel for dinners and overnight.

Day 9: Departure

This day marks the end of your Safari in Tanzania. After breakfast our driver will pick you up for a transfer to the Arusha International Airport for your international flight back home.

Cancellation Policy: Booking cancelled or reduced in numbers between the following days from the noon of accommodation/flight will attract cancellation charges as follows:

60-36 days – 20%

35-20 days – 50%

19- Arrival – 100%
